Cross the Divide exists to bridge the divide between poverty and opportunity with hope. Cross the Divide was founded in 2020 with the vision of creating a connected, caring, and safe community in Ward 90 and its surrounding areas, including Clynton, Craighall, Craighall park, Dunkeld, Dunkeld west, Glenadrienne, Hurl park, Hurlingham, Hurlingham gardens, Hyde park, Parktown North, Parkhurst and Blairgowrie.

Our mission is to create a safe, inclusive, and thriving community by addressing the root causes of problems and uplift those in need through community-driven initiatives and partnerships with local organisations. We believe in the power of collaboration and community to make a lasting impact.
Our Initiatives
Rehabilitation Programme
Supporting displaced and homeless individuals in their journey to recovery. We refer people to other services where necessary and collaborate with churches, shelters, and the U-turn Homeless Ministries programme.
Feeding Scheme

Clothing Drives
Collecting and distributing clothes and shoes to those in need. There is a particular and continuing need for shoes and takkies/trainers in reasonable condition.
ID Support
Helping individuals obtain replacement identification documents, matric certificates, PSIRA certificates (which enable people to obtain employment in the security industry), and other important documents, including creating new CVs.
Community Programmes
Ensuring our parks and streets are clean and maintained, and working with local organisations to improve safety and security. We support a number of people who clean the streets in Ward 90.
